Dandenong Civic Centre: A PIA Vic Award Winner

THE Dandenong Municipal Building and Civic Square won the 'Great Place Award' at the 2015 Victorian Awards for Planning Excellence. The project, which was part of the State Government's 'Revitalising Dandenong' strategy, forms the new public heart of the centre of Dandenong and was developed by the City of Greater Dandenong, with Rush Wright Associates, Lyons Architects and Material Thinking.

Melbourne at 7 million: losing farmland due to urban sprawl

MELBOURNE'S Foodbowl can currently provide enough food to meet 41 per cent of the city's food needs, but urban sprawl is putting this city-fringe farmland at risk.

The Foodprint Melbourne project has released its first infographic on Melbourne's foodbowl, highlighting the potential threat to supplies of fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables as Melbourne grows to 7 million people by 2050.

2014 UDIA Victoria Awards for Excellence

MAB Corporation, Lend Lease, Stockland, Sunland Group and Little Projects were among the winners of the 2014 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Victoria Awards for Excellence, which aim to recognise entrants for their standout commitment to excellence.

The five companies have now been nominated for the UDIA National Awards, which will be judged in February and announced in March 2015. Other winners announced at the gala event in December included ROTHELOWMAN (Consultant Award) and Interlandi Mantesso Architects and JMC Group for their Willow Park development in Maidstone (Judges Award).
