WEST Australian Lands Minister Brendon Grylls this week announced that LandCorp is seeking a partner to develop the northern 120 hectares of its Eglinton landholding in an effort to help optimise land availability and meet the needs of the growing corridor.
The project will form the first stage of LandCorp's development of 241.57 hectares of land at Eglinton, east of Marmion Avenue, with Mr Grylls calling it an exciting partnering opportunity.
The land, located 2 kilometres from the coast and approximately 50 kilometres north of Perth, will potentially provide for around 3,000 housing lots for a future population of up to 7,500 people.
"The State Government's vision for Eglinton is to create a well-planned community estate providing a variety of home sites, affordable living options and community facilities within the rapidly-growing and much sought-after North West metropolitan corridor," Mr Grylls said.
"Located in the City of Wanneroo, Eglinton is just over four kilometres north of another important partnering development, Alkimos, being delivered in partnership by LandCorp and Lend Lease."
The selection process will consist of two stages. Expressions of interest are invited and short-listed proponents will then be asked to respond to a detailed Request for Proposal.
Mr Grylls said the Eglinton partnering opportunity was part of a wider strategy to work with private developers to create fresh, contemporary neighbourhoods for West Australians.
