The three shortlisted companies are:

  • BGC Contracting Pty Ltd and Laing O'Rourke Australia Construction Pty Ltd as Great Northern Connect;
  • CPB Contractors Pty Limited (formerly Leightons Contractors Pty Ltd); and
  • Lend Lease Engineering and Georgiou Group Pty Ltd as LLGJV.

Federal Minister for Major Projects Paul Fletcher said the second stage would provide a safer and more efficient link to the important north-eastern metropolitan centre of Ellenbrook.

"Providing extra road capacity to Perth's north-east is a key priority now and in the future, given the Ellenbrook population is expected to grow to 47,000 by 2031.

WA Transport Minister Dean Nalder said NorthLink WA Stage Two involves constructing a dual carriageway and full grade separations (bridges) from Reid Highway to Ellenbrook.

"This will improve services for regional traffic movements to commercial and industrial areas such as Malaga, Kewdale, Perth Airport and Perth CBD," Mr Nalder said.

"NorthLink WA Stage Two includes flyovers at Beechboro Road North and Marshall Road, and interchanges at Hepburn Avenue, Gnangara Road and The Promenade at Ellenbrook.

The successful proponent for Stage Two is expected to be announced mid-2016, with construction due to begin later in the year and completion expected in 2019.

The Australian Government is contributing $894 million and the Western Australian Government $223 million to the NorthLink WA project.
