Expressions of interest called for $300m Mordialloc Bypass

THE Victorian Government last week called for expressions of interest to build the $300 million Mordialloc Bypass project, which involves a nine-kilometre bypass that will link the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Springvale Road, Aspendale Gardens, to the Dingley Bypass in Dingley Village.

When complete, the new arterial road will improve safety and traffic flow and provide better connections to the Dandenong National Employment and Innovation Cluster and industrial areas in Braeside and Moorabbin, as well as improved access to local residential and recreational centres.

The new bypass includes two new bridges, four new intersections and new off-road paths for cyclists and pedestrians. An Environment Effects Statement is currently being drafted which will consider how best to manage potential environmental, social, economic and cultural impacts.

A preferred candidate to build the project is expected to be announced later in the year.
