THE South Australian Government last week announced that proposed land use changes on the former Magill Training Centre site at Woodforde is now available for public comment, following the release of the draft Development Plan Amendment (DPA).
Planning Minister John Rau said the proposed land use changes in the Glen Stuart Road, Woodforde (Magill Training Centre) DPA are aimed at providing a range of housing types, including affordable housing opportunities.
"Now that the Magill Training Centre's operations have been transferred to the new facility at Cavan, the land at Glen Stuart Road presents a unique opportunity for the area," Mr Rau said, adding that the location is well serviced by surrounding infrastructure, including public transport.
"It is important that local people have a say on the future use of the site and get involved in the consultation process," the Minister said.
According to the government, the DPA will be developed to ensure:
- A range of low to medium density housing options can be developed;
- Significant areas of open space for the dual purpose of informal recreation and overall stormwater management;
- A significant amount of significant vegetation is retained; and
- Appropriate traffic management in the area.
The public consultation period closes 12 June 2013. More information on the draft Glen Stuart Road, Woodforde (Magill Training Centre) Development Plan Amendment is available from <http://www.sa.gov.au/planning/ministerialdpas>.
