Parliament passes Bill to extend Queensland Building Boost
In the News - Queensland

QUEENSLAND'S Parliament passed the Building Boost Grant Amendment Bill on Thursday, allowing the Building Boost to be extended until the end of April.

Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Andrew Fraser, said the three month extension of the Building Boost will support jobs in the construction industry.

The Queensland Building Boost was made available in August last year and provides $10,000 to all home purchasers buying or building a new home worth less than $600,000. The program was originally due to close at the end of last month.

Mr Andrews said there have been over 5,600 applications for the Boost, with hundreds more every week.

"The industry has supported this program, and the industry has strongly supported the extension," Mr Andrews said.

The government's initial budget allocation of $140 million for the program is expected to cover the three month extension.

The Queensland Building Boost is now available until 30 April 2012. More information is available from <http://boost.treasury.qld.gov.au/>.
