QUEENSLAND Planning Minister Stirling Hinchliffe yesterday announced that the government is seeking Expressions of Interest to develop the Coorparoo Junction Transit Oriented Development (TOD).
The 1.25 hectare Coorparoo Junction TOD site is located on the corner of Old Cleveland Road and Cavendish Road at Coorparoo. Once developed, the site will feature a mixture of residential housing and commercial and retail space, integrated with the planned Coorparoo Junction busway station.
Mr Hinchliffe said he wanted to see the Coorparoo Junction TOD become a landmark development in Brisbane.
The Minister said the development would help deliver on Brisbane City Council's plans for the Eastern Corridor.
"Importantly, this vibrant hub will stimulate the local economy, build investor confidence and bring a much-needed facelift to the site," Mr Hinchliffe said.
Member for Greenslopes, Cameron Dick, said seeking expressions of interest was a significant step in the revitalisation of the Coorparoo Junction precinct. He added that the integrated development will allow people to reduce their reliance on car travel.
"We will be looking to a developer to deliver a first-class concept to ensure the site is an exciting place for locals to live, work, relax and be entertained."
Expressions of interest opened yesterday and close on Friday, 18 March 2011.
