A $45 million expansion of a residential project on the former Channel 7 site at Epping has been approved by the NSW Government, allowing for an extra 150 residential units.
Planning Minister Tony Kelly said the modification to a concept plan first approved in 2006 would provide much needed additional housing and contribute to housing targets set by the Metropolitan Plan for Sydney 2036.
"The Metropolitan Plan indicates that the West Central subregion, which includes Epping, will need an additional 96,000 homes by 2036," Mr Kelly said.
The modification to the concept plan will increase the total number of residential units from 650 to 800 and increase common open space for residents by 4,265 square metres to a total area of 12,965 square metres.
The previously approved 31,394 square metres of public open space will be retained and road improvement works along Mobbs Lane will be brought forward.
