A DESIGN proposal for a second retail and office building made from cross laminated timber and glue laminated timber in Barangaroo's C1 site, located between Tower 1 of International Towers Sydney and Hickson Road, has been placed on exhibition for public feedback.
The state significant development application has been lodged by Lendlease with the Department of Planning and Environment, and if approved, the seven-storey building would be a 'sister building' to the award-winning International House Sydney, Australia's first engineered timber office building which was completed earlier this year.
The new proposal includes 726 square metres of retail shops on the ground floor and 11,022 square metres of commercial space on levels one to six. An outdoor terrace on level six of the building is planned, along with solar panels on the roof. There are also plans to use 18 car spaces and 35 bicycle spots in the approved basement below.
The Department's Executive Director for Key Sites, Anthea Sargeant, said the Department is very keen to hear the community's views on the plans.
"We highly value community feedback, and will take it into consideration when assessing this new proposal. Anyone is welcome to come and look at the plans."
The proposed building is the final building planned for Barangaroo in the area south of Watermans Quay.
