LEND Lease last week revealed amended plans for the Barangaroo development project, ahead of their submission to the NSW Department of Planning in July. "We have listened to the feedback received on our original design and further improved the proposed plans" said David Hutton, Group Head of Development for Lend Lease.
Lend Lease said the changes reflect extensive consultation and detailed work over the past six months. The new design has refined key elements such as the proposed cultural centre, public waterfront, pier and hotel. The number of commercial towers has been reduced from four to three and the height of the hotel has been reduced from 213 metres to 159 metres tall, while a proposed pier has been scaled back to 85 metres from 150 metres.
"We're creating a world class, sustainable extension to the city that delivers new public amenities and infrastructure, and returns the Barangaroo waterfront back to public use. We are confident these design refinements will ensure Barangaroo South is an iconic new place for Sydney," Mr Hutton said.
The new Lend Lease concept design will be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning in July. Lend Lease also launched a website for the project, Barangaroo South <http://www.barangaroosouth.com.au/>.
