NSW Government releases Long Term Transport Master Plan Annual Update 2014

NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian and Roads and Freight Minister Duncan Gay this week released the second annual update of progress made under the NSW Government's 20-year Long Term Transport Master Plan.

In a joint statement, the Ministers said the annual update highlights the major milestones and achievements delivered during 2014, including the introduction of thousands of extra public transport services introduced and major construction or significant progress on a number of major road and public transport infrastructure projects.

Contract awarded for Sydney's $2.1bn CBD and South East Light Rail project

NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian last week announced that the contract to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain the $2.1 billion CBD and South East Light Rail line has been finalised.

In a statement, Ms Berejiklian said that major construction of the project is now expected to finish in 2018, and services scheduled to commence in early 2019, almost a year earlier than originally expected.

AUSTRALIAN Assistant Infrastructure Minister Jamie Briggs and NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay last week announced that work will start next month on the first major road upgrade as part of the $3.6 billion, ten-year Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan.

The contract to build the first stage of the $509 million Bringelly Road upgrade has been awarded to BMD contractors, with local residents and stakeholders to be advised of changes to road conditions in advance of work starting on the project in January.
