A TOWN planner who began her career in a North Queensland council nineteen years ago has formally taken over as head of her industry's peak body.
Dyan Currie has taken up the reins of National President of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) at the organisation's 2011 National Congress in Hobart.
In the formal handover, PIA immediate past President Neil Savery said Ms Currie has an excellent reputation both as a highly respected planner and as an extremely effective leader within her industry.
"I welcome Dyan's appointment to this vital role and I congratulate her on the magnificent way in which has represented the industry as President of the Queensland Division of PIA for the past three years," Mr Savery said.
"PIA is extremely proud to have a person of such high calibre in the role of National President. Dyan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position and I wish her all the best."
