DEVELOPMENT applications and associated processes in the ACT, such as amendments, further information and satisfying conditions of approval, must now be lodged online. As of 3 January 2012, development applications and associated processes are no longer accepted over the counter, via post or email and must now be lodged using eDevelopment (eDa). The eDA portal allows applicants to upload plans and documentation, lodge additional information and amendments and see the status of their application at any time. According to the ACT Planning and Land Authority, approximately 60 per cent of development applications were lodged using the eDA portal in 2011. Computer terminals will be available in the Dickson Customer Service Centre for applicants who still want to visit the centre to lodge an application. Staff will be able to help applicants through the process. This change will also apply to the lodgement of building approvals and associated processes from 30 January 2012. Computer terminals are available in the Mitchell Customer Service Centre for applicants who still want to visit the centre to lodge a building approval application. More information is available from the ACT Planning and Land Authority website at <http://www.actpla.act.gov.au/>.
